Plot

Lupin enters a Grand Prix race in order to defeat an enemy organization named Scorpion. He's accompanied by Fujiko Mine, who is clumsily captured upon infiltrating Hotel Miracle and tied up, and Jigen, who switches with Lupin halfway through the race so that our titular hero can save Fujiko and defeat Scorpion.

This first episode of Lupin III throws us right into the action rather than set up the characters, personalities, or story. And in a typical anime I'd find that atrocious and  condemn it for doing such a thing, but for Lupin, it works. It gives us a good sense of what the show will be like (episodic action/adventure with some comedy and lighthearted romance thrown in for good measure). There's nothing deep or impressive to be found in this opening episode, but it is an entertaining and fun introduction to the world of Lupin.
